2.3.1 64-Bit Operation Modes

  • New IA-32e mode which contains 2 sub modes
    • Compatibility Mode
      • Allows 16 bit and 32 bit applications to run without being recompiled
    • 64-bit Mode
      • Runs applications in a 64 bit linear address space
